IT SHOULD BE NICE!
UltraNiceCycling is a project that merges the beauty of ultra distance bikepacking with fundraising for NGO bicycle projects around the globe.
We're going to cycle for one year along some of the world's most breathtaking ultra-endurance routes, raising funds for every kilometer cycled and donate to NGO projects in the countries we traverse 🌏
THERE ARE MANY ROUTES TO FOLLOW
About us
We are Franziska and Bastian, two cycling enthusiasts who love to explore the world on two wheels and under a tent.
About ten years ago, together with friends, we initiated a small NGO called faradgang.de
The concept is simple: we collect donations of old bicycles from streets, backyards, and basements, and refurbish them alongside individuals who may not easily afford their own bike.
With UltraNiceCycling, we aim to support similar projects in the task of making cycling more accessible .
We will start in early 2025 in New Zealand and end about a year later in Germany. Along our way, we'll benefit from the scouting efforts of many nice and like-minded people.
We’ll ride our beloved STEEL companions
Jeronimo – Sfarappa | Sour – Purple Haze
Here, you'll find a growing selection of routes and trails that will serve as our guiding compass 🧭
Tour Aotearoa
A dream comes true! A mind blowing route that is crafted to showcase the finest of New Zealand's cycle trail great rides, heartland rides, and peaceful backcountry roads. Could there be a better start?
The Japanese Odyssey
Having already undertaken a randonneur tour through Japan in 2016, we now trace the path of "The Japanese Odyssey," cycling through Japan's diverse landscapes and eating as much ramen as possible.
Mongolian Miles
for a Cure
Never been, always wanted to go. This route, and especially the event itself, is already a great match for our own vision. A bike-packing challenge that explores the breathtaking landscapes of eastern Mongolia on an unforgettable adventure, with a bigger purpose in mind. Hopefully, our dates for 25 will align somehow.
Pamir Highway
This Highway is known for being the second highest in the world. It traverses the Pamir Mountains through Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. At one point, it even climbs up to Ak-Baital Pass, a crazy 4655m above sea level.
Silk Road Mountain Race
The route typically starts in Kyrgyzstan, passes through mountainous regions with steep climbs and rugged paths, and continues through Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. It leads trough remote landscapes, including high-altitude passes, deserts, and ancient Silk Road cities, showcasing the region's diverse geography and cultural heritage.
